A word about the spelling of the family name. It appears that most of us have converged on Schlussel or Schlissel. But at Ellis Island a variety of spellings were used for people who are almost certainly family members. These include: Schlusel, Schleussel, Schluesel, Schliesel Schlossel In this data base, all the above were "converted" to Schlussel.

Tarnobrzeg births

Gayle Schlissel Riley provided two lists containing translations of portions of Tarnobrzeg birth records from Polish archival sources. One relates to the last decade of the 19th century. The other was labeled "Delayed E - S birth records." (Gayle's other interest is the Eder Family.) When entering into Excel format every effort was made to preserve the spelling of names used by the person(s) who compiled the lists. The lists are proving extremely reliable.
