Branches

Some Introductory Technical Comments

  1. The branches on the site are in pdf format, and Adobe Acrobat reader should open automatically (assuming you have the program) when you click on the name of the branch.
  2. The mega-branches are very large (the largest containing more than 1400 names) and when you open it using the "viewable" link, it will look more like the results of an EKG than a family tree. However, Adobe has a "magnify" function (in some versions represented by an icon: a magnifying glass). In some branches you will need to magnify up to +/-700% in order to view easily. Following magnification you may also have to scroll up and down until the first entry comes into view. But from the moment it does, you should have "clear sailing" and be able to scroll across the branch at your leisure.
  3. Printouts from the "viewable" option will not be readable. Therefore the same information is contained in the "printable" option. (You can also view the tree in the printable option, but for the larger trees this is quite awkward.
  4. You will also see a "Generation Report" option for the larger trees. This can be useful, but without going into all the reasons why, it does have limitations.
  5. Some of the larger trees may take a long time to load on your computer; please be patient.
